The highly-anticipated lingerie line is here and it’s everything we were promised plus more. Last month, Rihanna gave us a few hints about what the new line was all about (we even talked about it on the S+P blog here) but we were already convinced it would be a hit as this woman can do no wrong. And now it’s finally here.
With a focus on diversity, the lingerie line offers sizes from XS to XXXL and cup sizes 32A to 44DD – a pretty decent offering. The range spans across 90 pieces including lingerie, sleepwear and accessories, separated into four capsules.
U Cute features sweet lace designs, Damn focuses on more sexy intimates such as garter belts and bodysuits and Black Widow provides soft cup bodysuits, half cut bras and open-back bikini bottoms. And our favourite capsul; On the Reg featuring bras and underwear in every shade of nude.
“Women should be wearing lingerie for their damn selves,” the singer/designer/entrepreneur told Vogue. “I can only hope to encourage confidence and strength by showing lingerie in another light. You don’t have to stick to one personality with lingerie; it’s fun to play around. You can be cute and playful one week and a black widow next week. You can take risks with lingerie. I want people to wear Savage x Fenty and think, I’m a bad bitch. I want women to own their beauty.”
Prices range from US$39 to US$59 for bras and bodysuits are under $100. Affordable and accessible for a range of women, Fenty X Savage has really nailed it. We’re also pretty impressed with the range of models used for the launch of the campaign – with so many sizes, shapes and ethnicities covered. Well done Rihanna, you’re truly using your hard work to push for diversity in the market – something we’ve needed for a long time now.
