Ivy Park, Beyonce’s signature activewear line, is inspiring a group of young female figure skaters. The brand recently teamed up with Figure Skating in Harlem, a not-for-profit helping young women build their confidence, leadership and academic achievement to transform their lives for the better.
Figure Skating in Harlem is open to girls living in Harlem aged 6-18. It requires girls to commit to academic excellence and 15 hours each week on the ice. Those with B and C averages are also provided homework help and tutoring.
The organisation’s founder Sharon Cohen was delighted to partner with Beyonce and Ivy Park, “Beyoncé is a fierce, authentically powerful woman of colour. She inspires young women and girls globally who look just like her to do the exact same—to be fearless, free, and proud of themselves.”
Ivy Park’s mission is to help women look and feel at the top of their game, and the brand’s most recent campaign, which was titled “Strong Beyond Measure”, embodies this sentiment. The brand is truly focused on supporting young women on their endeavours in sports and beyond while proving that sports can be all-inclusive and helping them build a strong foundation.
The campaign features a short film where the young skaters are decked out in Ivy Park activewear and expressing their feelings on the impact Figure Skating in Harlem has had on their lives.
“It feels good to have someone always by your side knowing that you’re not going to do this alone. That’s like the best part of having a team… If someone was to tell me I couldn’t skate again, I wouldn’t listen to them. I would just take it as something as to keep me going. I don’t even think that’s possible for me to stop skating.”
